The general idea was to do icons of people I knew, based on their name or profession.
The sitter, Sophie (http://zophielwebb.com/) , used to work for £7/hour doing butterfly paintings for Someone Else and, as it happens, one butterfly painting by the Someone is called Hagia Sophia. As I was doing an 'icon' of Sophie and her highly decorative tattoos, I added the butterflies as a pattern (she also has a Esher inspired butterfly circle on her back).
