Portraits of people in the guise of the saint of their name
Peter Hammond as St Peter
St Peter is - besides the Rock that the Church is built on - the 'gate-keeper' of heaven, waiting at the so called Pearly Gate to see who can get in or not.
This Peter is my dad, Peter Hammond. He is an entomologist and a bit of a charmer.
In the garden there are a variety of plants with meaning: bulrush for salavation, ivy for eternal life, etc
There are also some ladybug and butterflies for decoration and in any case butterflies are apt as symbol of resurrection.
Oil on gesso, about 4 x 6 inches.
